Dear Glenda
Just a note to thank you for the wonderfully uplifting workshop you provided to our staff group. Many times our staff meetings are serious and sometimes stressful; it was such a breath of fresh air to enjoy your optimistic speech on how to see the positive in every situation both at work and home. In a work climate of major changes, and stressors such as accreditation and lack of resources, the staff needed at least once to leave the staff meeting with some happy positive thoughts. Your workshop did more than achieve this. It was a pleasure to see the smiling faces at the end of the presentation and I could feel the change in morale. Many of the staff thanked me for introducing you and commented on how much they enjoyed the presentation.
Hopefully you will be available again but I am sure you will be in demand in many places so we will book early
Thank you again.

Chilliwack high school student
As a student who has been touched personally by Glenda Standeven,
I can
honestly state first hand that Glenda is an accomplished woman who has the
ability to inspire and motivate young people like no one else. Her
smoking awareness program is delivered in a down to earth way and
from a student's perspective is easy to understand. As well, Glenda
presents herself in a way that all students can relate to;
whether it's directly making a
connection with the students or making a connection through past
relationships, she never fails to gain the trust of young people.
I believe that Glenda is a rare phenomenon. It is rare for an
adult to gain
the complete trust of a student and yet, Glenda has gained the trust
of
hundreds, if not thousands, of students a hundred times over! Glenda
Standeven is a remarkable woman, with an astonishing story, of which
she
has a passion to share with others. Her work is sensational and
frankly,
her heart for our youth is mind boggling to some but to us is
extraordinary. Glenda's work is not just work, Glenda's work is her
love in life! And it shows!
Through her achievements and struggles she has managed to accumulate
numerous awards, including Woman of the Year, led many conferences,
and chaired numerous committees. Glenda Standeven has an
insurmountable amount of support from the community because of the
way that she inspires and motivates. She truly is an optimist and
her smile and laughter are
contagious in a community that has come to respect her and love her
for
everything that she has done for us!

Teacher, Chilliwack Senior Secondary
In appreciation of the wonderful work that Mrs.
Standeven has done with our students over several years, I offered
to write her a letter of recommendation as I am leaving this school
at the end of the year and I wish to highly endorse the work that
she has done here for the staff and students of Chilliwack Secondary
School.
Each semester for a full day, Mrs. Standeven
sets up shop in the library and all the Planning 10 kids participate
in her interactive workshop. She arrives with a wealth of highly
effective print, poster, and media resources that she uses to
supplement her compelling personal message of hope and recovery. Her
anecdotes and range of interactive activities model the power of
positive thinking and healthy living. From the moment that she
starts to her last sentence, students remain focused.
What Mrs. Standeven has presented at CSS should
be made available to all grade ten students across this district.
Kids at this adolescent stage have proven that they are willing to
consider her message and take it to heart. As well, her workshop
effectively addresses an important learning outcome for Planning
10.
Mrs. Standeven has given freely of her time and
resources and we, the teachers and students of Chilliwack Secondary,
have been the beneficiaries. I would like to recommend her as a
presenter in any forum where there is a common concern for healthy
living in both a mental and physical capacity. Please feel free to
contact me for further information.
